Dreams Do Come True

Almost around the world  people celebrates birthday, not just to give or to receive a gift and share foods to eat  but to honored and wish a "Happy Birthday" the birthday celebrants.

Akyat Aral knows that there are important days in their life, we make sure that children recognize the value of their birthday as a celebration of LIFE...

Birthday is a happy time to every children to show how much they loved. This is always a memorable occasions gather with their family, friends and even with their neighbors thinking back the day of the children was born and reflecting on how much the have grown over the past years.  

Unfortunately, because of being less privilege they cannot celebrate a memorable day of their lives. 

Akyat Aral "Dreams Do Come True" project is a birthday celebration for all of the children in Sitio Inararo in Porac, Pampanga to let them experience how to have a birthday celebration. 

The project is an empowerment program to make a tangible difference to their lives and offer a place of dignity and hope for their mind and in their heart. This is to let them believe that all things are possible and they have the power over their future. Through this program they will overcome disappointment and to become empowered citizens with practical life skills that they can put in action to tackle the positive change for themselves as well as for their community.

The Program:

The birthday party is not a party without a cake (this is tradition) and we know that all of them like a cake. The cake is highly decorated  covered with covered with colorful cream, buttercream frosting, maybe vanilla and etc., and there also a classic chocolates on chocolate cakes, all looks so delicious.

To make the birthday celebration complete, there are pop corn and ice cream, making them enjoy and feel how to be a real children experiencing a real birthday party to each other. 

Of course a mascot for complete entertainment.

Gifts are prepared, like toys, sandals and slippers, school supplies and many others surprise treats.

While the program is running, and children are having fun with the other, some volunteers are busy in cooking.

Akyat Aral real understanding and empathy for others truly comes through their experience. Akyat Aral believed that connecting and touching lives of others is a million times  more powerful than making a million cash donations to the less privilege communities.

Project Play Ground

Allowing Children to be a Children 

After the Project Classroom,  the "Project Playground" is another dream project to fulfilled for  Dumagat children. 

For almost five years of visiting them,  we provide their schooling needs,  promote education and inspires them to study. We gives packs filled of school supplies, nutritional foods to promote healthy living and proper nutrition, not only for the children but to the whole community. Every December, we provide the whole community  a various gifts, such as clothing's, toys, foods, grocery pack and conduct parlor games  to let them feel the true meaning of Christmas.

In our continuous visitation with them, Akyat Aral dream for them is turning into reality. Slowly  our dream has come true to build a descent classroom. We create a Fun and Joy Tour to show them how much we care in our own way to promote their life long emotional being  and to help them feel connected.

Now, the Project Playground.  Akyat Aral passionately believe that  education  as the primary  right of every children, to learn, understand and develop skills that acquired through  schooling, we also believe that every children has the right to play.

Akyat Aral   understand the importance of playing for the children that will help them to flourish, The project was planned and thought-out properly.

Akyat Aral have  fundamental reasons why this  Project Playground is important for all the children  in their early childhood program and in school.  Outdoor play is one of the things that characterized childhood and best preparation for their adulthood, to have a full and enjoyable childhood. Thus childhood must include playing, for a variety of reasons that these reasons cannot occurs inside their classroom. Yet children must have this important experience, and this experience is a memory they remembered  in their childhood days. 

Playing are learning, it develop the capacities of the children bodies, exploring the materials world around them and navigating the complexities  of social interaction. It also contributes to children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and participation and above all this is the right of every children to experience playing regardless of their status in  life.

The Event: 

The journey to Sitio Bulak is exciting especially to Akyat Aral volunteers who have been visit the place and able to mingle with the Mangyan Community. The physical challenge riding to what they called "Skeleton Truck" the dusty and rough road, skipping meals, inadequate sleep, and many other physical challenges are all worthless compared to the joy, fun and happiness they can give the the community they know that awaiting for us.

The Medical Mission

We  don't have Optometrist  but we know the less privileged old member of the community needs corrective lens. With our volunteer Doctor, and  other volunteers  made the basic card reading and find out where the patients are comfortable by changing grades of eye glasses.

The Classroom

The inner part of the classroom is almost finished as we prioritized for immediate use of the children. Along with the playground, the steel window is now attached. There still a lot of things to be done, we want to finish everything including the outer part of the school, until it was painted. 

Akyat Aral dream to this school is to be a symbol of  their education, that connect with the heart and soul of generation of Dumagat children and continue to convey the promise of education for their future generation. 

Another dream we want to give them is a solar panel so that we can put  a television set in their classroom as a medium  of additional knowledge for them. A  programs where they can learn many things. They can learn about places, as well as animals that they have never seen, they could also learn about new scientific discoveries.  Historical programming can help make more aware of cultures and people. Documentaries can help them develop critical thinking about society and the world, and other viewing programs guided by their teacher.

Bridging to the  community offered a unique experience to travel to this far mountainous areas that never been especially for our new volunteers.

This is a great challenge, mentally  without the comforts of their homes and physically help to a community that was in great need.
